In simple jeans and a light flannel, Zalli sat in the van Yoltzin had lent out to her with some of his workers. They were on their way back to her house from dropping off the bouquets with Festival Coordinator Poton.

Zalli stood in front of her fields, enjoying the last of the warmth from the evening sun. The breeze she felt from the summer winds brushed against her exposed shoulders.

Zalli rushed down the stairs and jumped the last two steps in her haste to begin the day. As she stood, she grabbed one strap of her overalls to pull it up, but had to stop halfway in her movement as she got stuck.

Sounds of soft chatter filled the living room as the Tlahuizcal women worked with lirio leaves to form woven roses. Each one had about 7 leaves per bundle, and grabbed the topmost leaf to weave it over, under, over, under; once the leaf reached the end, the cycle would begin all over.
