Why I won't Publish Mature Content on my Blog

Hello!

I wanted to leave a note here explaining why certain content from my stories are censored when that is not the case on other websites that I publish on. To be straightforward, it is because I cannot monitor users properly on my blog. At least, I don't really know how to program it that way.

When I can publish on Archive of Our Own, if I tag my story to contain mature themes, then I can trust the website to at least ask the user if they are of appropriate age to read the material. It is not the best security safeguard, but it is at least an attempt. If it's on Patreon, then I can at least request users to create a profile.

I understand minors will find a way to access materials not meant for them (I too went through that age and did not let a little box asking if I was 13 or 18 years and older stop me from accessing a website). That does not mean, though, I will allow any of my mature content to be easily accessible. So, if you are under 18 years old, please wait a bit to read my stories.

When it comes to brain development, it really is best to access certain things once you are of age. Who knows what kind of impact the content might have that could result in negative consequences for the brain chemistry.

Of course, everyone has their free will. But, if I can at least leave a warning of caution to minors, then I will. So please, minors do not interact (MDNI).

In the end, I do not wish for readers to feel like they are jumping through hoops in order to access my content. I hope for it to be an enjoyable experience when reading my content. But, considering how my website will have the least amount of traffic when compared to other websites, I do not think it will not be too much trouble to leave it as it is.
